1. Log into your AE dashboard and open AE Connect
Start by logging in to your dashboard. From the dashboard home screen, click the AE Connect tile.
2. Manage the application you want to install AE Connect on
AE Connect is configured per application. Click Manage on the application you want to set up (or Create new application if you don't have one yet).
3. Open the Install AE Connect tab
On that application's edit page, click the Install AE Connect tab.
4. Allowlist your domain before anything else
The Install AE Connect tab walks you through setup in order, starting with Step 0: Allowlist your domain. This is for security reasons, to prevent other people from using your unique code on unauthorized websites. Add your site's domain under the Privacy & Permissions tab before testing any snippet on your website — the signup forms won't work until this is done.
5. Choose a platform
Under Get Started Quickly, pick the card that matches your site — Custom HTML, WordPress, or Squarespace — for guidance on where to paste the snippet.
6. Choose Email + password or Email-only, then copy the signup snippet
Depending on how you want members to sign up, choose Email + password or Email-only, then copy the full snippet shown. This single snippet now includes both the AE JS framework embed and the AEJSReady callback function together — you no longer need to add them as two separate pieces.
An additional query parameter can be added to the AEJS snippet to add registered members to a specific segment. eg. /framework/js/123?segment=456.
7. Add social sign-in options
Once your email signup flow is live, add connected social apps from the Helpful next steps section's Social sign-in tab.
8. Use AE JS Data Tags for popup or per-service register links
The Social sign-in tab gives you ready-to-use AE JS Data Tag examples — a popup register window, and specific-service register links (Facebook, Spotify, etc.) — instead of a plain prose explanation. See the full list of AE JS Data Tags for more.
